• How do I clean the tent?

  Depending on the amount of dirt on the tents, we recommend washing the tents up to 60 m², (6 x 10 m) indoors. This would also facilitate drying them after cleaning. In the case of inner liners, partition walls and cabins, washbasins can be used as long as they are large enough to fit the accessories. The largest part will be about the same size as the largest tent.

  Equipment:

  • High pressure washer, if possible
  • Water
  • Hoses
  • Brushes
  • Cleaning wipes
  • Detergent
  • Water supply
  • When using high-pressure washers, the pressure can not be too high, use maximum diffusion and approx. 1 meter distance from the fabric.

  Staff

  We recommend that each cleaning team consists of 2-3 people. This is because the tents are relatively heavy, especially when wet. Typically one such team should be able to wash two tents during a working day.

  Cleaning procedures

  If the tents are packed in containers, they must be opened and the tents unpacked as soon as possible to identify possibly damp tents. If the tarpaulins are wet, they must be washed and / or dried as soon as possible. Otherwise they can easily become infected with mold.

  Each tarpaulin should be checked for degree of soiling. If the tent skins are dry and not too dirty, they can be cleaned by removing dust with a vacuum cleaner and cleaning the surface with water and a cloth.

  If the fabric is very dirty, it must be cleaned using a high pressure washer and / or a lot of water, detergent and brush, and mounted or hung to dry after rinsing thoroughly with clean water. ROFI recommends Janitol Heavy Duty No4806 as a suitable cleaning agent.

  No fabric should be dried using a mechanical dryer in order to avoid shrinkage.

  Please note that all tent skin, ground sheets and transport covers must be clean and dry before storage.

   

   

• What cleaning agents can I use?

  Difficult stains, such as oil and tar, can be removed using a cleaning cloth dampened with gasoline.

• What is important in connection with tent daily maintenance?

  Check that all guy ropes are attached and properly anchored. All tent pegs must be positioned correctly and be properly anchored. The ground cover should be dug into the ground if possible, and secured against strong winds.

  Avoid sand and rocks inside the tent. Try to avoid situations where the tent skin becomes extremely dirty. The tent should be cleaned by removing loose dirt with a vacuum cleaner, and the surface should be cleaned with water and a cloth. Difficult stains, such as oil and tar, can be removed using a cleaning cloth dampened with gasoline.

  Wet tent skin should be dried as soon as possible to avoid being affected by mold. If the tent needs to be cleaned during field operations, clean the tent in the mounted position and using water, detergent and cleaning wipes, a sponge or a brush. Do not pack the tent when it is wet.

• Can the lighting fixtures come in direct contact with water?

  The lighting that is delivered with the ROFI tents in the Insert Package is IP65.

  This means that all parts belonging to the lighting are completely protected against dust penetration. And rinsing the lamps with water from all sides should not have a harmful effect.
